The Arc That Was

We have talked about a lot of tourist spots or tourist attractions here in our blog already. We talked about the Louvre and the Eiffel - two of the most famous vacation spots in the city. Of course the beauty of Paris does not end there. There are still countless of tourist spots that we still need to explore.




So today we plan on revisiting this kind of angle in writing a story for you guys. We picked a tourist spot and now, we'll write about it. Ready? Do you have any guesses which one we'll feature this time?

If there was anything that both art and history could prove Paris of its beauty, it would be the Arc de Triomphe. This famous attraction was built to commemorate the bravest and greatest leaders in France. Once of which is Napoleon Bonaparte. Now, it has become a monument of his army and the bravery that they have shown in defending the French land.

Getting to the Arc de Triomphe:

  • There are several ways to reach the Arc de Triomphe:
  • Metro: lines 1, 2 and 6, station Charles-de-Gaulle-Etoile
  • RER: line A, station Charles-de-Gaulle-Etoile
  • Bus: lines 22, 30, 31, 52, 73, 92 and Balabus
  • From outside Paris: exit Porte Maillot and avenue de la Grande Armee or exit Porte Dauphine and avenue Foch
  • From the centre of Paris: drive or walk up the Champs Elysées
  • If you are on foot, the safest way to enter is via the underground walkway along the Champs Elysees.

Arc de Triomphe Opening Times:

The Arc de Triomphe is open from April 1 to September 30, from 10 a.m.-11 p.m., and from October 1 to March 31, 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Tickets must be bought by a half-hour before closing. It's closed on January 1, May 1, May 8 (morning) July 14 (morning), November 11 (morning) and December 25.
